The black box warning for the Ortho Evra patch warns users against using the drugs if they suffer from any of the following side effects:

• a history of heart attack or stroke;

• a history of blood clots in the deep veins of the legs;
• chest pain;
• breast cancer, cancer of the lining of the uterus, or cervical or vaginal cancer;
• unexplained vaginal bleeding;
• hepatitis or yellowing of the whites of the eyes during pregnancy or while taking birth control;
• liver tumor;
• known or suspected pregnancy;
• high blood pressure;
• diabetes;
• headaches with neurological symptoms;
• use of oral contraceptives;
• disease of heart valves;
• or an allergic reaction to any of the components of Ortho Evra
